Falafel Bites

These soft, oven-baked falafel bites blend chickpeas, olive oil, and mild herbs for a gentle flavour children will enjoy. Rich in plant-based protein and fibre, they help support steady energy and healthy digestion throughout the day. You’ll need:

  • 1 can (540 mL) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 small carrot, grated
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp oat flour or breadcrumbs (gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley or oregano
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mash chickpeas or pulse in a food processor until mostly smooth.
  3. Stir in grated carrot, olive oil, oat flour, and seasonings. Mix until combined.
  4. Roll into small balls (about 1 tbsp each) and flatten slightly.
  5. Bake for 15–18 minutes, flipping halfway through, until lightly golden.
  6. Serve warm with a side of yogurt, tzatziki, or sliced cucumber.
