Wholesome Kids Welcomes High Level Nutrition Standards for Child Care

Wholesome Kids Catering is proud to formally announce we are incorporating the Ontario Dietitians in Public Health (ODPH) guidelines into our menus. ODPH creates nutrition recommendations specifically for child care and early years programs. Wholesome Kids is embracing ODPH guidelines because we want to continue to deliver the very best in nutrition to you, our child care partners.

This resource provides evidence-based nutrition guidelines for menu planning and healthy food preparation in child care settings. It includes prescriptive recommendations, categorizing foods as “Serve Most Often”, “Serve Sometimes”, and “Do Not Serve” and includes specific targets for sugar and sodium in children’s food choices. This supports the food and beverage requirements set out in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, and allows providers to go above and beyond the general healthy eating recommendations in Canada’s Food Guide.
